An internist doctor, accredited in higher education, Frédéric Houssiau has been, since September 2017, the vice-rector of the health sciences sector at UCLouvain, which brings together not only 5 research institutes and 4 faculties but also two university clinics.
After a career at the Institut de Duve, thanks to the FNRS, and a post-doctoral stay in London, he was head of the rheumatology department of the Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc for some fifteen years. His clinical, research and teaching activities are in the field of systemic autoimmune diseases. He was head of the Inflammatory and Systemic Rheumatic Diseases Department at the UCLouvain Experimental and Clinical Research Institute.
