Digital Twin
by Bruno Schoeder, Microsoft
Digital twins refer to the digital representation of physical objects, processes or people, that can be used for multiple purposes : maintenance of expensive industrial equipments such as turbines or aircraft engines, monitoring or diagnostic of assets such as buildings or assembly line or identifying healthy patients, generating specific ethical concerns.
Although the concept is not new (think of CAD models), more and more business systems are incorporating some forms of continuous intelligence that uses real-time context data to improve decisions.
Digital twins integrate AI, machine learning and software analytics to create digital simulations models that update and change as their physical counterparts change.
