Representation of the self and the interlocutor in political discourses

This project aims at analyzing different strategies to represent oneself or the interlocutor in political discourses. It includes the analysis of different types of linguistic strategies, such as deictics, impersonals, forms of address,… Moreover, it aims at analyzing which aspects of the (professional, private,…) identity are highlighted as well as in which way the relationship with the interlocutor is being construed (alignment or disalignment). Given the multiplication of communication channels, this project not only takes into account political debates but also communication through social medias, e.g. Twitter and political blogs.
