My poster is titled "Development of an UPLC-MS / MS method for the combined quantification of oxysterols and bile acids" (under the supervision of Prof. Muccioli). It focuses on the development of a quantification method for the determination of oxysterols and bile acids by mass spectrometry.

The PhD project aims to better understand the connexion between obesity and triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) by studying the impact of the apelin adipokine. Our results have shown that development of obesity favors TNBC growth but also increases apelin production in the adipose tissue. Moreover, our results have also revealed that the TNBC tumors that grows in obese mice are themselves producing more apelin. By infusing the apelin adipokine in lean mice we have shown that this adipokine is sufficient to increases TNBC growth and to favor brain metastasis formation. The next step of our project will be to try to block the apelinergic system in obese mice to analyze if it impacts positively on TNBC growth.
