During AEQES experts’ November 2019 institutional evaluation visit, which was preceded by the preparation of an institutional self-evaluation dossier, UCLouvain had to demonstrate how it is developing and improving its quality management system in order to carry out its educational mission.
On this occasion, the university also opened the possibility for institutions to choose to integrate into the institutional evaluation a request for the experts to determine its capacity to henceforth fully take charge of the external evaluations of its programmes. In April 2022, the experts issued a favourable opinion of this request, allowing UCLouvain to benefit from an exemption from AEQES external evaluation of programmes from the 2023-24 academic year through the 2028-29 academic year.
The institutional evaluation report of UCLouvain and those of the other higher education institutions are available on the AEQES website.
The diagnosis resulting from the evaluation constitutes a lever for action. This is the purpose of the 2022-27 action plan, which defines, as a follow-up to the institutional evaluation, the strategic priorities for improving the Education and Training Quality System. At UCLouvain, the Programme Academic Quality Group (QAP), a permanent committee of the Education and Training Council (CEFO), is responsible for monitoring the actions and regularly reviewing this action plan.
