Booking and managing equipment: a new tool for platforms

At the initiative of the Science and Technology Sector (SST), a new tool for managing and booking technology platform equipment has been developed with the Outsystems application in close collaboration with the Service Général du Système d'Information (SGSI) and with the support of the Institute for Information and Communication Technologies, Electronics and Applied Mathematics (ICTEAM).

This tool was largely inspired by the past experience of the Wallonia ELectronics & COmmunications MEasurements (Welcome) platform which already had a management system, but was reaching its limits.
That's why, with over 150 users, almost 350 equipment items and 1,500 consumables and accessories, the platform accepted the challenge of defining and testing all the functionalities required to deploy this new management system.

 

For the SST, this new tool is a great example of pooling resources and expertise for the benefit of all its platforms.

For operational managers, this will facilitate the day-to-day administration of users and equipment, as well as invoicing.

Finally, for users, this tool will enable access to the complete catalog of equipment available within one or more platforms, and online reservations (subject to conditions).

Other SST platforms will now be adopting the tool and expanding the catalog. The tool may be also proposed to other interested platforms.
