L'éméritat du professeur Patrick Willems aura lieu le vendredi 9 septembre 2022 aux Auditoires Pierre de Coubertin (face à la Faculté des sciences de la motricité) sur le site de Louvain-La-Neuve.

Prof. Pietro Enrico di Prampero (Emeritus Professor of Physiology at the University of Udine - Italie)

Human Power centrifuges on the Moon or Mars

The lecture will be based on the mechanics and energetics of cycling. The first part will consist in a brief presentation on how to maintain cardiovascular and muscular function in microgravity. The second part will discuss briefly the possible construction of a "Temple" for the maximal absolute speeds on human power vehicles.

Development of human locomotion

This presentation will outline recent advances in understanding maturation of the sensorimotor networks in early infancy and how motor commands are expressed during human locomotion. Both biomechanical and neural aspects will be considered for discussing the precursor of the mature locomotor pattern and its functional reorganization during development.

Neuromechanics in movement: an integrative approach for understanding motor control

Coordinated movement emerges from the interplay among descending output from the central nervous system, sensory input from body and environment, muscle dynamics, and the emergent dynamics of the whole body. The inevitable coupling between neural information processing and the emergent mechanical behavior is the central theme of neuromechanics. Applications of neuromechanics are numerous and include ameliorating human health problems.
