Computational science

We have a strong interest in predicting behavior of solids and fluids, and their interactions, with the help of new mathematical modeling and computer simulation techniques.

Applications cover topics as diverse as numerical methods (discontinuous Galerkin methods, radial basis functions, mesh generation); geophysical fluid dynamics (ocean modeling, coastal flows); solid mechanics (composites materials, micro-mechanical modeling); and complex multi-agent interactions (modelling of bird flocks and fish schools).
