When the university says goodbye to its international students

One hundred and fifty international students, representing 23 nationalities, were received at the Halles universitaires on Tuesday 5 December. They had been invited by the Pro-Rector for International Affairs Professor Dana Samson and Pro-Rector for Alumni Professor Marc Francaux.

This was the second edition of the International Meet and Drink, a festive reception in honour of students preparing to leave UCL after completing their studies or exchange programmes.

The reception format, combining official speeches, activities and the savouring of Belgian specialities, was intended mainly to provide participants with a joyful memory of the university.

Students assessed their knowledge of UCL through a quiz and learned about our tradition of celebrating Saint-Nicolas. The rector took the opportunity to commend the future alumni and express his holiday wishes (soon to be posted on the UCL website).

At the end of the reception, students received a few gifts as tokens of their stay at UCL.
