Main project: Control of grid connected medium voltage DC micro-grids Funding: région wallonne Supervisor(s): Emmanuel De Jaeger
Micro-grids allow the connection of renewable energies while being able to compensate for the variation in generation and thus avoid disrupting the end user or the main grid. Using DC voltage instead of AC proposes several advantages for micro-grids as less conversion losses can lead to a higher efficiency. The stability and control of mid voltage micro-grids is studied as their implementation and standardization is still in development.
