UCLouvain participates to the World Water Forum

L4WATER

From 22-27 March 2022, UCLouvain participates to the 9th World Water Forum (WWF), organised at Dakar, Senegal. It is the first time that the largest international water-related event is organised in sub-Saharan Africa. Participants from every horizon, including political and economic decision-makers, multilateral institutions, academia, civil society and the private sector seek during this week to identify, promote and implement concrete responses and actions for the global water problems.

Implementing sustainable solutions for global water problems implies strong links between research, innovation and management, and close collaboration between researchers and operational water managers. Such links can be established within transdisciplinary research frameworks, which are also promoted by UCLouvain in its HORIZON600 strategy. Participation to events like the WWF allows contributing to such transdisciplinary approaches in the water sector. At this occasion, UCLouvain delegate 2 research ambassadors (Alice Alonso (Earth and Life Institute - AGRO) and Margo Hauwaert (IMMC-EPL)) to represent the research, training and services capacity of UCLouvain. Building upon the Louvain4Water network, concrete contacts between UCLouvain and professionnals of the water sector are established.
