Ramses Delafontaine

Dr. Ramses Delafontaine is a post-doc researcher of the Flemish Research Foundation (FWO) at the University of Ghent, where he teaches in the faculties of Arts and Law. He was educated at Ghent University in Modern History and in Law and holds a master's degrees in both fields. His main research focuses on historical expertise in legal proceedings. He has extensive research experience in US court cases and practice relating to the tobacco industry, for which he was awarded a Fullbright Scholarship and a grant from the Belgium American Education Foundation. He has published Historians as Expert Judicial Witnesses in Tobacco Litigation. A Controversial Legal Practice (Springer 2016). His current research tends to look at tobacco litigation in a wider comparative perspective.
