Edmond Sterpin, Associated Professor in both KU Leuven and UCLouvain, was awarded the SCK CEN Chair 'Roger Van Geen' world Prize for his research achievements in the nuclear sciences.
“I am very honoured and grateful to receive the SCK CEN Chair ″Roger Van Geen″. Being awarded alongside prestigious researchers is a strong motivation to pursue my research efforts even further. It is also a recognition of the importance of medical physics in the realm of atomic and nuclear physics. The chair will allow me to disseminate to a wider audience the scientific bases of the discipline. Moreover, the major challenges of the moment can be addressed, in the particular context of the development of a cutting-edge research program at the newly built PARTICLE proton therapy center in Leuven, the first of its kind in Belgium, “ says Edmond Sterpin.
This 12,500€ Prize is awarded for a substantial and original contribution to the field of nuclear energy and/or nuclear radiation.
