Since November 2011, UCLouvain has brought together under a single status students who, due to a disability, serious illness or high-level sporting or artistic activity, cannot engage in a university course without special arrangements. The purpose of PEPS status is to support and encourage them in a transparent and equitable way.
In 2014-15, the Decree on Higher Inclusive Education came into effect; it established the PEPS framework for students with a serious illness or disability.
