A Google grant for the PlayEduLAB of the FUCaM Mons campus

Louvain-La-Neuve, Mons

The UCLouvain obtained a 20.000€ "Google Community Grant" for the development of the "PlayeEduLab" project on the FUCaM Mons campus, a laboratory on gamification pedagogies.

The new Lab will offer a space for training, co-creation, research and development around the ever-expanding and inexhaustible world of games.

Initially, the project will be hosted at the FUCaM Mons Workshops. In a later phase, it will be one of the laboratories housed in the new academic building planned for 2022, alongside the Social Media Lab, Student Start Lab and PolicyLab.

Under the impulse of the Vice-Rector in Hainaut, Prof. Alain Vas, and the mobilization of Prof. Ingrid Poncin, Amélie Jacquemin and Julie Hermans (LSM) as well as Prof. Miguel Souto Lopez and Thibaut Philippette (ESPO), the project has been selected by Google Belgium via its Data Center in Mons.

Google's funding program aims to support organizations and initiatives that have a positive impact on the communities that host a data center of the American company, by awarding grants for projects in four areas of action: the development of science and technology education, environmental protection, accessibility of local culture online, and Internet accessibility.

This submission process was supported by the work of the project officer Gianmarco Garramone.
