The article "Mapping Assurance" co-authored by Dr. Loïc Decaux (Louvain School of Management & KPMG), Dr. Al Chen (Poole College of Management, North Carolina State University) and Scott Showalter (Poole College of Management, North Carolina State University) has received the John B. Thurston Award for the most outstanding paper in the field of internal auditing, published in the Internal Auditor Magazine. The award was received by Dr. Loïc Decaux during the 2017 Institute of Internal Auditors International Conference in Sydney 20th-23th July, in front of more than 2,000 worldwide internal audit experts.
The purpose of the article is to explain how internal auditors can use assurance maps in order to facilitate efforts to document the organization's combined assurance activities.
