Do you want to broaden your research skills in political sciences? Next September, ISPOLE will host the EUVIP Methods Skill-Building Workshops, an event organized as part of the EU-funded EUVIP project (EU in a volatile Indo-Pacific) with the support of the ISPOLE through the "Capacity Building ISPOLE" project.  

 

·          When? From Tuesday 12 September to Friday 15 September 2023, from 09:15 to 16:45 (morning session: 09:15-12:30, afternoon session: 13:30-16:45), 

·          Where?  Room Leclercq 93 (LECL93), Collège Jacques Leclercq, Place Montesquieu 1, 1348 Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.  

·          For who? Ph.D Students 

 

This workshop series aims to equip Ph.D. students with essential research methods in the field of social sciences. During this four-day event, you will have the opportunity to attend a range of interactive sessions designed to enhance your research capabilities in qualitative and quantitative methods, mixed methods, and fieldwork, as well as ask questions about data management and the ethical issues involved.

 

The schedule is the following - (Schedule subject to changes)

  • Tuesday 12/09/2023 
  • WS 1: Introductory session - "Mapping social science methods: how to handpick the methodological toolbox(es) that meet(s) your needs?" & "Doing political fieldwork" (morning)
  • WS 2: Qualitative data collection methods (afternoon)

 

  • Wednesday 13/09/2023 
  • WS 3: Qualitative data analysis methods (morning)
  • WS 4:   Introduction to surveys (afternoon)

 

  • Thursday 14/09/2023 
  • WS 5: Quantitative methods (morning). 
  • WS 6: Mixed methods. (afternoon). 

 

  • Friday 15/09/2023 !!! whorkshop postponed !!!
  • WS 7: Research Data Management & Ethics (morning only) - Save the date! This workshop is open to all ISPOLE members. 

 

We will have the pleasure to welcome Prof. Benoît Rihoux (UCLouvain), Prof. Duncan McCargo (University of Copenhagen), Prof. Pierre Baudewyns (UCLouvain), Prof. Kristina Kironska (Palacký University Olomouc), Dr. François Randour (UCLouvain), Dr. Van Tran (University of Copenhagen), Dr. Laloux (UCLouvain), and Boquet (UCLouvain) as our workshop facilitators.

 

A sandwich lunch will be provided to participants. 

Please note that due to the interactive nature of the workshops, it is not possible to attend the presentations via Teams.
