UCL 1st year

If you are currently studying in UCLouvain (last year of the bachelor degree) and want to enter the FAME master next year, you have to participate to the FAME master as a regular student of UCLouvain. In this case, you will join the University of Augsburg or Grenoble INP for the first year of your master degree. From UCLouvain's standpoint, you will simply have the status of a standard student sent abroad for an Erasmus; obviously, you are supposed to come back to UCLouvain for the second year of your master degree. You will thus have a dual degree Grenoble/Louvain or Augsburg/Louvain;
The admission procedure is slightly more cumbersome than for a normal Erasmus student of UCLouvain. You should :

  1. Submit to the 'Ecole polytechnique de Louvain' (EPL - Louvain School of Engineering) a request for an Erasmus stay in Augsburg or Grenoble, using the standard forms and procedures. Here, the same criteria will be applied to you as to any standard Erasmus EPL student. The request has to be submitted for the first meeting of the Erasmus Commission (possibly of the Mercator Commission - please ask to the EPL secretariat), which falls early January. Be aware that the Erasmus or Mercator Commissions of the EPL can solely decide whether you may or not leave UCLouvain to participate to the FAME master.
  2. If accepted by the commission of UCLouvain-EPL, you will have to register officially to FAME. Apply to the FAME master as described on the general web site. Note that the 1000 € registration fees are slightly higher than in UCLouvain (but then, you will obtain two diplomas). You will have to fill a complete file as any standard FAME applicant, including proof of English command (IELTS or TOEFL), motivation and recommendation letters, etc. However, you will be automatically accepted by the FAME consortium once selected by UCLouvain.
  3. Note that you still will have to register each year to UCLouvain as "student in an interuniversity program". However, the FAME consortium will take care of paying registration fees for you.
  4. Arrange for your departure and stay in Augsburg or Grenoble; see the web sites of these Universities for further information, as any other Erasmus student would do. There may however be extra administrative steps to follow - see the information available on the FAME general web site, related to these Universities.
  5. For the second year of your master degree, you will also have to register to both FAME and UCLouvain (now, as a regular student in the master KIMA), and you should pay the standard 1000 € fees to the FAME consortium. Again, you don't have to pay registration fees to UCLouvain, because this will be taken in charge for you by the FAME consortium (if the students office gives you a payment form, simply bring it to Prof. Alain Jonas).
