Études phénoménologiques - Phenomenological Studies

Les Études Phénoménologiques - Phenomenological Studies is a yearly peer-reviewed journal publishing articles in French and English both in print and online. The journal follows the same spirit of openness to various perspectives that was to be found in the which was founded in 1985 by Jacques Taminiaux who remained its editor until 2008 (Éditions Ousia). The publication of the new journal is the result of a collaboration between the Centre d’Études phénoménologiques de l’UCLouvain and the Department of Philosophy at Marquette University.

The journal is dedicated to the general task of showing the relevance and fruitfulness of phenomenology for contemporary issues in philosophy and being a forum for contemporary discussion of such issues. One of its goals is to bridge the gap between history and philosophy, between continental and analytic philosophy, and between theory and application.

The journal welcomes historical studies of particular authors within the phenomenological tradition or historical accounts of particular issues as well as (2) systematic analysis of a topic or a problem on which phenomenology can make a contribution.

Mission statement in English

The magazine publishes thematic issues (see appels à contributions). It also welcomes submissions on open themes (with no submission deadline) for the Varia section of each issue.
