Jacques Drèze determined my professional life. I had the luck to be a student of a course (General Equilibrium Theory) that he taught (only once in his life) as an invited professor in Liège in 1974. His teaching was excellent. This experience convinced me to enrol in the Master in Economics at UCL in Leuven. That led me to meet other professors there (among which J-F Richard), to become researcher at CORE for a year, and after a year of military service, and to get back to Jacques Drèze to express my willingness to get a Ph. D. degree. He supported me by offering that I become teaching assistant (he was also teaching Statistics to undergrads).
