How to get to IRES ?
By Car
Louvain-la-Neuve is located off highway E411. From Brussels or Namur, get off at EXIT 8a. You will arrive at a roundabout situated on the National 4.
- For IRES: turn left on National 4 till the next roundabout (called Baudouin 1er), then turn right (1st output), you are on "Boulevard Baudouin 1er". Go straight till the second traffic circle and turn right (1st output), you are on "Boulevard du Sud". The closest car park for non UCL-member is the Grand Place car park. A map of the car parks in Louvain-la-Neuve is available at https://uclouvain.be/fr/decouvrir/parking-ucl-louvain-la-neuve.html. Please note that most car parks are paid parking. Visitors who would like to get refunded will have to keep their tickets. Visitors can also request a car park card to Virginie Leblanc.

For the Hotel ibis Styles: turn right on National 4 to the next roundabout, take the 3rd output (you are on "Avenue de Lauzelle"); go straight to the roundabout, the Hotel ibis Styles will be on avenue de Lauzelle on your right hand.

Brussels National Airport (Zaventem) is linked to Brussels by a train service: 4 trains/hour between 5.30 a.m. and 12 p.m. during weekdays and between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. during week-ends (about 15'). Ask for a ticket to "Louvain-la-Neuve" (NOT Louvain or Leuven) and get off at the station BrusselsNord (a 12-15 min. ride). Take the Brussels-Namur-Luxemburg line (trains every half hour, week-end included), get off at Ottignies (about 35') and switch to a train to Louvain-la-Neuve (about 8'). Some trains go straight from Brussels to Louvain-la-Neuve but it takes more time. IRES is located about 5 min. walk from the railway station (see map below).

Brussels South Charleroi Airport: To reach Louvain-la-Neuve, take a bus from the airport (Bus A) to reach the Charleroi South station (about 20'). There are 2 buses/hour during weekdays (..h03 and ..h33) and 1 bus/hour during week-ends (..h10). You can purchase a combined ticket at the airport's bus stop (door n°2). This ticket is only available at the airport. The bus rides to the Charleroi-Sud railway station, from which you can catch a train for Louvain-la-Neuve (you will have to get off at Ottignies and switch to a train for Louvain-la-Neuve). You should aim between 1h and 1h30 to reach Louvain-la-Neuve. IRES is a 5-minute-walk from the train station (see map below).

By Train
Starting from any train station in Brussels, ask for a ticket to "Louvain-la-Neuve" (NOT Louvain or Leuven). Take the Brussels-Namur-Luxemburg line (trains every half hour, week-end included), get off at Ottignies (about 35 min.) and switch to a train to Louvain-la-Neuve (about 8 min.). Some trains go straight from Brussels to Louvain-la-Neuve but it takes more time. IRES is located about 5 min. walk from the railway station (more precisely, the station is half undergound):
- get out of the train, walk back on the platform (opposite to the direction where the train was heading to)
- Take the stairs at the end of the platform.
- At the top of the stairs turn right to reach Place de l'Université
- Keep to the left side of the place and cross it
- Once at the fountain, enter the Grand-Rue
- At the next intersection, go slightly on the left and follow Rue du Sablon
- Follow rue du Sablon until you come across a round place called place des Doyens.
- On place des doyens stick to the right and cross it.
- You are now on Place Montesquieu and IRES is on your right hand side (Dupriez Building).
By Bus
Buses from TEC serve Louvain-la-Neuve from Bruxelles, Ottignies, Wavre and some other surroundings.
- Bus 20 carries out the connection from Ottignies and Wavre to Louvain-la-Neuve;
- Rapido Bus 1 carries out the connection from Jodoigne to Ottignies without stop between Thorembais-Saint-Trond and Louvain-la-Neuve;
- Rapido Bus 3 carries out the connection from Waterloo to Louvain-la-Neuve via Ohain, Céroux and Ottignies;
- Rapido Bus 4 carries out from Nivelles (station) to Louvain-la-Neuve via Nivelles (zoning);
- Conforto carries out from Ixelles (plaine des manoeuvres, gare d'Etterbeek) to Louvain-la-Neuve via Delta (subway station) and Wavre (station).
