Any researcher who will use your data for a scientific publication should cite you, so you’ll receive proper credit for your work. To do so, you have to make sure

  1. That your data have a license and/or a data sharing agreement that requires author’s citation.
  2. That you dataset has a permanent identifier (like DOI), which is provided by the data repository you choose 

When the researcher will use your data (and explain it in the “method” section of the paper, for example), he must refer to your dataset references, that include your name. They will be found at the end of the manuscript, under the reference section, just as papers.
