Belgium, Covid-19 and Social Media

The project ran from 8 March to 8 June 2020 and focused on French-speaking tweets from Belgium during the containment period. A publication related to this survey can be found at this page.

The following 40 presentation sheets, containing the analysis* day by day, come from 2 social networks:

  • A corpus of 105,000 tweets from the French-speaking Belgian population and 2,300 tweets from 300 French-speaking Belgian politicians' accounts including a keyword related to Covid-19.

  • A corpus of 1,100 discussions (and their 45k comments) about Covid-19 available on French-speaking Reddit pages citing Belgian media.

*These analyses were carried out by Louise-Amélie Cougnon, Louis de Viron (DataText SPRL, from 27 April 2020) and Violeta Gutierrez (until 24 April 2020). We also thank the Cental, which provided the corpus of tweets following the methodology defined in the Opinio project.
