Having enough to eat should never be a luxury
At certain times in student life, it can become difficult to cope with food expenses. Don't panic - it's more common than you might think. The UCLouvain Student Support Service is here to support you, without judgement, with care and discretion.
Every situation is unique. That is why support is offered after a meeting with a social worker from our team. Together, we find suitable solutions.
Here is what we can put in place:
The Plat malin: a great deal at €4
Fancy a hot, balanced meal at a low price? The Plat malin is available in the Restos U (university restaurants) for just €4.
But if this amount is difficult to manage, Restos U meal vouchers can be granted on a one-off basis by our social work team following an assessment of your situation.

One-off financial support
Financial support can also be considered to help you cope with a temporarily difficult situation. Don't hesitate to talk to us about it.
Food banks (épiceries solidaires)
Food banks give you access to essential products (hygiene and cleaning products, baskets of fresh fruit and vegetables, baby-care products, etc.) at reduced prices.
- In Louvain-la-Neuve: access to the Les Vents du Sud food bank is possible after agreement with the social work team

- Access to the «Free Alma» food bank is open to the entire student community on the Alma site, on a self-declaration basis. The principle: you pay €5 to make up a basket worth around €50. It includes fresh products, hygiene products and non-perishable groceries.
- Where? Lenneke Marelaan 6, 1932 Woluwe-Saint-Etienne (Zaventem) (ALMA COURT 6 building)
- When? By appointment on Tuesdays from 3.30 pm to 6 pm: download the Au P'tit Panier app to book your slot

For €5, you can stock up on fresh and non-perishable products. The basket is free for Saint-Louis Brussels students whose tuition fees are reduced to €0 or €374.
- Where? Rue de l'Ommegang 6, 1st floor
- When? Basket collection on Thursdays from 2.30 pm to 5 pm
