Information for international students
Welcome to UCLouvain! To ensure that your integration in Belgium goes as smoothly as possible, here is the key information about your financial resources and the support you may be entitled to.
What financial support are you entitled to?
For European Union nationals (or those assimilated to Belgian students)
We invite you to make an appointment with one of our social workers to review your situation.
For students from outside the European Union
Although direct financial support is limited by regulation for non-EU profiles, UCLouvain has put alternative support measures in place to help you in your daily life:
- Priority for obtaining a student job
- The possibility to cover certain exceptional medical costs not covered by your health insurance fund
- Reimbursement or provision of a refurbished PC (subject to certain conditions)
Proof of means of subsistence (bank guarantee)
Are you from a country outside the European Union and required to provide proof of your means of subsistence in order to obtain your visa?
Please note that bank guarantee deposits are now handled entirely by the International Relations Office (Administration des Relations Internationales - ADRI). Our Student Support Service is no longer involved in this procedure.
