Study allowances and other grants

aide |

Official study grants are the first pillar of funding for your university studies in Belgium. Our service guides and supports you through these crucial steps.

Study allowances from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles (FWB)

These statutory grants are awarded by the "Direction des Allocations d'Études" (DAE) on the basis of academic, administrative and financial criteria.

What are the advantages if you receive one?

For the Saint-Louis Brussels campus, this support applies under different conditions

  • The option of requesting advances on your allowance from our Student Support Service while awaiting the official payment of your grant by the “Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles”

When and how should you apply?

Applications for study allowances must be submitted by you to the “Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles” between 1 July and 31 October at the latest. We strongly recommend starting these steps at the beginning of the summer in order to receive a swift response.

Other grants

In addition to standard study allowances, various funds and bodies award specific grants to higher education students. This support targets certain fields of study or is awarded on the basis of place of residence through private and provincial foundations. Measures specific to the German-speaking Community and to Luxembourg are also available subject to conditions.

To discover all of these opportunities and check your eligibility, see the page dedicated to other grants on the “Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles” portal.
