Description du projet

Le ou la candidat·e retenu·e mènera une recherche post-doctorale financée par le programme ARC (Action de Recherche Concertée) NarraMus, financé par l’UCLouvain :

Le projet NarraMus (Writing the Self and the Other: Identity and Societal Issues in Post-Migration Literatures of Muslim Descent in French, German and Italian / L’écriture de soi et de l’autre dans les littératures d’ascendance musulmane de la post-migration en langue allemande, française et italienne : enjeux identitaires et sociétaux) étudie une sélection de textes narratifs d’autrices et d’auteurs de diverses origines ethno-nationales dans des contextes européens de post-migration. Dans une variété de formes narratives allant de la nouvelle au roman en passant par la chanson pop et le rap, les autrices et auteurs illustrent et abordent les « nœuds identitaires », les enjeux, les opportunités et les difficultés d’appartenance à des milieux culturels différents. De même, le fossé entre les racines parentales et l’environnement socioculturel en Europe est thématisé au premier plan. Ces voix narratives polyphoniques brassent les aspects de l’interculturalité, de la réciprocité et des images du Moi et de l’Autre, ainsi que les relations entre musulmans et non-musulmans. On s’intéressera aussi bien aux compétences dispositionnelles qu’aux procédés d’écriture et aux stratégies de communication par lesquels ces textes se positionnent sur les questions socioculturelles liées à l’identité.

Description du poste et de la fonction

Ce mandat de recherche, conçu comme partie intégrante du projet NarraMus, sera conduit à l’UCLouvain, sur le campus de Louvain-la-Neuve, durant une durée maximale de 2 ans (date d’entrée en fonction : 1er octobre 2022) sous la direction des Prof. Hubert Roland (UCLouvain), Brigitte Maréchal (UCLouvain) et Costantino Maeder (UCLouvain).

Il sera mené en étroite collaboration avec le consortium de recherche NarraMus et leurs groupes et réseaux de recherche respectifs. Le poste correspond à une fellowship ou un work contract de type Post Doc selon les barèmes en vigueur à l’UCLouvain. Le ou la candidat·e retenu.e se consacrera entièrement à la conception et la mise en pratique concrète de la dynamique collective du projet de l’équipe de recherche NarraMus et de sa logistique, et ce en étroite collaboration avec les promoteurs du consortium: ateliers, séminaires, congrès internationaux, publications et projets culturels prévus dans le projet ainsi que l’élaboration d’une véritable base de données qui s’appuyera sur des contributions des divers membres. Ses propres travaux de recherche trouveront également à s’intégrer dans le cadre de ce programme.

Diplôme requis et compétences principales

Doctorat en sciences humaines ou sociales dans le domaine des Langues et Littératures Modernes à orientation littéraire et comparée ou de la socio-anthropologie. Des compétences particulières dans un ou plusieurs domaines suivants sont particulièrement appréciées : études comparées et de l’interculturalité, cultural studies, sémiotique, sciences cognitives.

Une excellente connaissance de l’allemand et/ou de l’italien est requise, de même que du français comme langue de travail et de l’anglais comme langue internationale de communication orale et écrite pour les travaux de recherche.

Le dossier de candidature (à rédiger en français ou en anglais) contiendra les documents suivants :

• Un CV avec liste de publications (comprenant une copie du titre de docteur).
• Une lettre de motivation (2 à 3 pages) dans laquelle le/la candidat·e développera notamment son intérêt pour le thème et sa vision du projet de recherche.
• Une copie pdf de la thèse et de publications éventuelles pouvant attester de l’adéquation du/de la candidat·e au profil recherché pour le projet ; un projet répondant en tout ou partie aux objectifs de NarraMus qui aurait été introduit auprès du F.R.S.-FNRS ou d’autres fonds de recherche peut également être joint à la candidature.

Sur base de ces documents, les candidat·es seront sélectionné·es pour un entretien, probablement en distanciel. Une réponse définitive sera donnée au plus tard le 1^er août 2022.

This PhD research is part of an interdisciplinary research project in the humanities and social sciences anchored in the following institutes and research centers

Description of the project

The candidate will conduct a post-doctoral research funded by the ARC (Concerted Research Action) NarraMus program, funded by UCLouvain:

The NarraMus project studies a selection of narrative texts by authors of Muslim descent and of diverse ethno-national backgrounds in European post-migration contexts. In a variety of narrative forms ranging from short stories to novels, from pop to rap songs as well from stories on social media to testimonies, these authors illustrate and address the "knots of identity", the challenges, opportunities and difficulties of belonging to or referring to different cultural backgrounds. The tensions or even the gap between parental roots and the socio-cultural environment in Europe are brought to the forefront as resources and obstacles.

These polyphonic narrative voices address – at the heart of constructions of identity and belonging – the disparate aspects of interculturality, of co-inclusion and of the images of the Self and the Other, as well as of the strained relations between Muslims and non-Muslims.

The main focus will be on the narrative themes, the writing processes, the dispositional competences and communication strategies through which these texts position themselves on socio-cultural issues related to identity.

Description of the position and function

This research mandate, conceived as an integral part of the NarraMus project, will be conducted at UCLouvain, on the Louvain-la-Neuve campus, for a maximum duration of 2 years (starting date: October 1, 2022) under the direction of professors Hubert Roland, Brigitte Maréchal and Costantino Maeder.

It will be conducted in close collaboration with the NarraMus research consortium and their respective research groups and networks. The successful candidate will be fully involved in the implementation of the collective dynamics of the NarraMus project and its logistics, in close collaboration with the promotors of the consortium: workshops, seminars, international congresses, publications and cultural projects planned in the project as well as the constitution of data sheets. His/her own research work will also be integrated into this programme.

Required degree and main skills

PhD in humanities or social sciences in the field of Modern Languages and Literatures with a literary and comparative orientation or Socio-anthropology. Particular expertise in one or more of the following areas is particularly welcome: comparative and intercultural studies, cultural studies, semiotics, cognitive science.

Excellent knowledge of German and/or Italian is required, as well as French as a working language and English as an international language of oral and written communication for research work.

• A letter of motivation (max. 3 pages) in which the candidate will succinctly develop his/her interest for the theme and his/her vision of the research project.
• A pdf copy of the PhD thesis or of a publication that can attest to the candidate's suitability for the project; a project that responds in whole or in part to the objectives of NarraMus and that has been submitted to the F.R.S.FNRS or other research funds may also be attached to the application.

On the basis of these documents, the candidates will be selected for an interview, probably remote. A final answer will be given by August 1, 2022, at the latest.
