Since its creation in 2001, The de la Vallée Poussin chair has been entrusted each year to a leading mathematical personality. It is held in the form of an international conference of 4 days in Louvain-la-Neuve in the audience of the same name. An inaugural lesson is given on the first day and is followed on the other days by 3 more in-depth presentations on the subject.
The de laVallée-Poussin chair owes its name to Charles de la Vallée Poussin, one of the greatest Belgian mathematicians. He was a professor at UCL from 1891 to 1962.
