Michel Willem, Emeritus Professor at the Research Institute of Mathematics and Physics , has been elected Director of the “Classe des Science” for the years 2023 and 2024. He also became President of the Academy.
The Académie royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique is made up of four classes:
- Classe des Sciences,
- Classe des Lettres et des Sciences morales et politiques,
- Classe des Arts,
- Classe Technologie et Société,
and a Collegium.
Every two years, in the autumn, each class elects a director from among its full members. The director of one of the classes becomes president of the Academy. His term of office is therefore two years.
