2018 Business and Society Research Seminar - The Transformation towards Sustainable Business: Empowering Stakeholders for Sustainable Innovation, Production, and Consumption
The Chair of Corporate Social Responsibility of the University of Mannheim Business School hosted the 8th edition of the Business and Society Research Seminar for PhD students and emerging scholars.
Objectives:
The objective of this two-day “Business and Society Research Seminar” (formerly “CSR Research Seminar”) is to bring together doctoral students, emerging scholars, and more experienced academics to present and discuss their research projects and receive feedback. We will explore commonalities as well as differences in each other’s research approaches and themes in an inspiring, sociable, and convivial academic setting. Similarly to previous editions of the seminar, the two-day research event was composed of plenary, thematic, and workshop sessions dedicated to research methodology and publication strategy. Furthermore, we put an emphasis on collaboration and dialogue with practitioners. All sessions involved fellow PhD students, emerging scholars, and more experienced researchers.

2017 Business and Society Research Seminar: Corporate Social Responsibility in Uncertain Times

Objectives:
The objective of this two-day “Business and Society Research Seminar” (formerly “CSR Research Seminar”) is to bring together doctoral students, emerging scholars and more experienced academics to present and discuss their research projects and receive feedback. We explored commonalities as well as differences in each other’s’ research approaches and themes in an inspiring, sociable and convivial academic setting. Similarly to previous editions of the seminar, the two-day research event was composed of plenary, thematic, and workshop sessions dedicated to research methodology and publication strategy. Furthermore, we put emphasis on collaboration and dialogue with practitioners. All sessions involved fellow PhD students, emerging scholars and more experienced researchers.
The seminar was hosted by the IÉSEG Center for Organizational Responsibility (ICOR) at IÉSEG School of Management (France) in collaboration with the Louvain CSR Network of the Louvain School of Management Research Institute (UCL, Belgium), Audencia Business School (France) and ICHEC Brussels Management School (Belgium).
The keynote speakers were Jeremy Moon, Velux Professor of Corporate Sustainability at the Copenhagen Business School Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (cbsCSR), for a plenary session focused on the main theme of 2017 edition on Corporate Social Responsibility in Uncertain Times.
Themes:
In the face of damage or shocks to the current socio-political and economic system, businesses and their multiple constituencies are faced with increasing social, environmental and political challenges. In these uncertain times, novel efforts across the CSR, sustainability and social innovation agenda by different types of business-related actors are required to lead to a redefinition of the responsibilities, roles and opportunities for businesses and their constituencies to foster the emergence of meaningful, renewed forms of prosperity.

We will explore commonalities as well as differences in each others’ research approaches in an inspiring academic setting. This two-day research seminar will be composed of plenary, thematic, and workshop sessions. Furthermore, there will be sessions on research methodology and publication strategy. All sessions will involve fellow PhD students, emerging scholars and more experienced researchers.
Organization:
The seminar is co-organized this year by ICHEC Brussels Management School (Belgium), Louvain CSR Network of the Louvain School of Management (UCL, Belgium), Audencia Nantes School of Management (France), and IESEG Center for Organizational Responsibility (ICOR) at IESEG School of Management (France).

2012 CSR Research Seminar
In keeping with the CSR Days organised in 2010, the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School and the Louvain CSR Network of the Louvain School of Management organized the CSR Research Seminar "Shaping the Future of CSR research" on February 15-16, 2012, thanks to the support of La Fondation Bernheim and EABIS.
Researchers, PhD candidates and prominent professors were invited to jointly discuss their respective research projects. The common point between all topics discussed was Corporate Social responsibility (CSR), considered from various disciplines (including but not limited to management, law, sociology, philosophy, economics, political science, and social psychology).
The CSR research seminar was a great opportunity for doctoral students and young researchers to present and discuss their research project, as well as receive feedback ans advice from leading academics and practitioners, such as Assaâd El Akremi (Université de Toulouse, France), Céline Louche (Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School), David Bevan (EABIS & Grenoble Ecole de Management), Franck De Bakker (VU Amsterdam, The Netherlands), François Maon (IESEG Business School, France), Jan Lepoutre (Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School), Jean-Pascal Gond (HEC Montréal, Canada), Manal El Abboubi (La Rochelle Business School, France), Mustafa Ozbilgin (Brunel Business School, UK) - to be confirmed, Nigel Roome (Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School), Philippe de Woot (Université catholique de Louvain) et Valérie Swaen (Université catholique de Louvain).
The event also included a paper/research project presentation and a publishing workshop.
