Doctoral Workshop 2018 - Winter Session

Louvain-La-Neuve

November 19, 2018

Namur

This year, Prof. Rajiv Sethi from Columbia University has kindly accepted to give a keynote during the workhop entitled "The Geography of Lethal Force".

The Workshop is intended for PhD students in economics and related fields at any stage of their thesis to acquire experience in presenting their work to a broader audience and discussing it.

The Doctoral Workshop takes place twice a year, in December and June. All doctoral candidates of the organizing universities are required to present each year, at either of the two sessions. Both theoretical and empirical contributions at any stage of completion are welcome. Students from other universities are warmly invited to participate and present their research, but in the event that not enough slots are available, priority will be given to students of the organizing universities.

The Workshop will be followed by a social dinner.

Three types of sessions are available:

- Short session: 20’ presentation + 5’-10’ questions;

- Long session: 30’ presentation + 10’ intervention of a discussant + 5’ questions.

- Job market session: 45’ presentation + 10’ intervention of a discussant + 5’ questions (reserved for PhDs from the organizing universities).

Presenters for the long sessions are asked to suggest a discussant at the time of the registration (and agree with her/him beforehand). Presenters unable to find a discussant will be assisted by the organizing committee, although it cannot be guaranteed that a discussant will be found.

The registration deadline for presenters is December 3rd. Non-presenters have to register by December 14th.

The organizing committee greatly appreciates attendance by the faculty and post-doc researchers, as their feedback greatly enhances the quality of the discussions and comments. They are kindly asked to express their interest and confirm their presence by sending an email to the organizing committee or by filling out the form in the registration website.
