Professor Patrick Zurstrassen passed away

Louvain-La-Neuve, Mons

We have received the sad news about the passing away of Patrick ZURSTRASSEN on November 8, 2019. Mr ZURSTRASSEN was invited professor in international finance at UCLouvain and LSM during the period 1998 - 2008.

Patrick ZURSTRASSEN, born in 1945, was primarily active in banking and senior management in Luxembourg. Between 1987 and 2002 he was leading the Luxembourg entity in the Credit Agricole Indosuez group, but also chairing the Luxembourg association for investment funds (ALFI) 1992-95 and the European federation of investment funds and companies 1993-96. He also made a lasting contribution to corporate governance in founding ILA - the Institut luxembourgeois des administrateurs in 2005, an organisation that he also chaired until 2011. Today ILA with 1,800 members is the largest networking and training network for directors and senior management in Luxembourg. At the European level, he was thereafter chairing ECODA, the European Confederation of Directors Associations during the period 2011-14.

Originally Belgian but active in Luxembourg for many years, the faculty remembers Patrick ZURSTRASSEN for his passion to share the international dimension of finance and governance with our students.

Please join with me in offering our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Per Agrell, Dean of the faculty
