Bruno Meurens, Entrepreneur of the Year 2022
The prize for the Company of the Year 2022 has been awarded to the SME Meurens Natural, specialised in the sale of food ingredients and a model of entrepreneurial success in Wallonia. At the head of the project is Bruno Meurens, one of its two CEOs, a graduate of the Louvain School of Management.
This Company of the Year prize, awarded by EY in collaboration with L'Echo and BNP Paribas Fortis, aims to reward French-speaking Belgian companies for their entrepreneurial and innovative spirit. A fine national distinction but with an international scope, offering a great visibility to the company.
In a twist of fate, Benoît Gailly, one of Bruno's former professors in strategy and innovation at the LSM, was part of the competition panel.
family business is the result of a successful industrial conversion. Innovation is part of its DNA. Thus, 50% of the 2021 turnover was made on products that did not exist five years before. One example is the transition from the production of traditional Liège syrups to the production of organic or natural labelled cereal syrups.
growing market is evolving rapidly and the company does not hesitate to invest in order to develop and to constantly question itself in order to offer products that are both healthy and respectful of the environment.
Bruno Meurens comments:
"Studying in Louvain-La-Neuve has allowed me to open up and create exchanges with other faculties. The experience was really enriching, both in terms of courses and extracurricular activities.
The numerous group work organized at the LSM taught me to collaborate on the same project, while ensuring continuous learning. The quality of the teaching was there, but also the pedagogical learning method. It was a far cry from the traditional system based only on end-of-year exams.
Being able to work in a group is an essential skill in the daily life of a company.”
