The National Reference Center for Clostridioides difficile is part of the network of reference laboratories coordinated by Sciensano.
Its missions are to :
Confirm a diagnosis of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDiff).
Typing of CDiff strains.
Characterize the pathogenicity of CDiff strains and monitor the emergence of hypervirulent strains.
To monitor the antibiotic responsiveness of CDiff strains.
To participate in the national surveillance and to organize the strain collection.
Collaborate with national and European networks.
