Exploring Engagement: Insights from the Annual LSM Advisory Council Working Session
Engagement was the focus of attention at the annual working session of the LSM Advisory Council on 24 November 2023.
Engagement was not only the focus for employers from private, public and non-profit organisations, but also for academics, researchers and students who were present in large numbers to discuss this current issue.
What initiatives are the business world taking to attract, retain and engage staff in a world of multiple transitions? Jean-François Herremans, CEO of EASI (Best workplace for the 9th time) was with us to present how they approach this subject.
What recommendations can be made to LSM to further improve its teaching practices and get students more involved in their learning process?
A number of ideas were put forward by the working groups, providing food for thought for the project already launched by the new Dean and management team: Teach to Transform.
To end the session on the importance of a collective commitment from all stakeholders (professional world - students - academics), Tom Dedeurwaerdere, engineer and philosopher and professor at UCLouvain, came to present the OIKOS pilot project. This project proposes a specific methodology, of an inter- and/or trans-disciplinary nature, to support students wishing to write a dissertation on the issues of sustainable development and transition. This project is a good illustration of the need to move towards the co-construction of knowledge in a society undergoing multiple transitions.
