Résumé du thème

This seminar will explore some of the ways in which literature on ritual and ritualization could be made useful to the study of legal phenomena in modern Western jurisdictions. The presentation will look at what studies of ritual practices may be able to say in relation to a range of topics familiar in legal scholarship. These could include, for example, the construction and transgression of boundaries, the elaboration and representation of different roles and identities for individuals, or different understandings of time.
