Prix Georges Lemaître 2019 (22 mai 2019)

EVENTS

We have the honour of inviting you to the award ceremony of the 2019 Georges Lemaître International Prize conferred to Professor George F. R. Ellis.

Every other year UCLouvain awards the Georges Lemaître International Prize, established in 1995, to either a Belgian or an international scientist who, through his/her academic career, has contributed most remarkably to the development and promotion of scientific knowledge in the fields of cosmology, astronomy, astrophysics, geophysics or space research. Laureates are selected by an international scientific committee chaired by UCLouvain’s vice-rector for research.

The 2019 Georges Lemaître International Prize will be awarded to a renowned scientist in the fields of relativistic cosmology and astrophysics, black hole physics, general relativity, gravitation and the physics of the expanding early universe, whose legacy is on par with the scientific legacy of the founder of modern scientific cosmology, Georges Lemaître.

Before the ceremony, discover Georges Lemaître's life, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Space is limited to 25 people per 15 minutes. These visits take place at the Musée L.

At 5:30 pm, you are invited to the Award Ceremony.
